Founded in 1970 by the late Dilip Kumar Sanyal in Guwahati, Assam Publishing Company (APC) has long stood as a cornerstone in the promotion and preservation of Assamese literature and culture. As one of the region’s pioneering publishing houses, APC has played a vital role in bringing Assamese literary works to a broader and more diverse readership.

Under the visionary leadership of Dilip Kumar Sanyal, the company published a wide array of works—from foundational educational textbooks such as Good English and Modern Grammar, to original Assamese literature and acclaimed translations of renowned national and international authors. The publishing roster includes celebrated Assamese writers such as Homen Borgohain, Nirupama Borgohain, Harekrishna Deka, and Dr. Nagen Saikia, alongside globally recognized figures like Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy, Amartya Sen, Yuval Noah Harari, Amitav Ghosh, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Gulzar, and Sachin Tendulkar.
